Getting More Traffic from Google

Here are some simple ideas to get more traffic from Google:

* Google News: If your site is regularly updated, you can suggest it as a news source at: http://news.google.com . Other possibilities to get into Google News is by publishing press releases at sites like www.prweb.com and www.prleap.com

* Google Image Search: Optimize the images on your website to generate additional traffic from Google Image Search: Use appropriate and highly searched for keywords in your image name and use your keyword in the image alt tag.

* As I already explained in a previous post, use Google Sitemaps for better spidering and more traffic from Google: www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps to create your sitemap, go to: http://www.xml-sitemaps.com/

* If this makes sense for your niche, provide short “how to” videos and put them on http://video.google.com Make sure to use your keywords in the title and description. You could also display a short ad with a link back to your site at the beginning and the end of the video.

* Add content to Google Base: http://base.google.com You can provide all kinds of content: recipes, reviews, articles…

* Post on Google Groups with a link back to your site (use your keyword in the link text) in your sig file.

Help! What should I write about in my articles?

Do you use articles to generate traffic to your site? If not, you really should. Writing a ~ 500 word article is relatively easy and doesn’t take much time (if you know your subject well enough).

And the benefits?

* Free target traffic that’s likely to convert well.
* Backlinks from possibly hundreds of different sites and improved rankings in the major search engines - which means more free traffic.
* Writing articles helps you to gain trust and likeability which is essential to get a good conversion rate.
* It also allows you to establish yourself as the expert in your field.

But what about should you write? Here are some tips on how to get ideas for your article topics:

* Write an article that offers a solution to a specific problem.
* Something that helps your readers to save time or money
* An article that addresses a problem of personal concern, that helps to reduce stress…
* Something that presents an expertise or advice
* An article that’s funny, amusing or entertaining.
* Step-by-step instructions to solve a specific technical problem.
