Ideally you should pick a niche with low competition and good profitability. But that’s not always an easy task. Some niches are very profitable (like Internet marketing, gambling, debt consolidation…), but they are also highly competitive and if you are new or relatively new to Internet marketing, I strongly recommend you select a less competitive niche. Other niches have almost no competition, but unfortunately there is also no money to be made in.

So, here are some tips to help you pick the right niche:

* First of all, I suggest you pick a niche you are really interested in – this will make your job much easier and you will also have much more fun.

* Check out the number of Adwords Ads on Google for your main keywords. If no or only a few ads show up then this might mean that there is no money to be made in your niche. On the other hand, if more than 30 ads show up then this indicates that your niche is highly competitive and making any money in it could be quite difficult. Ideally, there should be something like 5 – 30 ads for your main keywords.

* A somewhat crowded niche might be better than an almost empty one, because it will be easier for you to find JV partners and affiliates. Also, a healthy competition indicates a good profit potential.

* Check the prices for your Google Adwords. If they are ridiculously high it might be very difficult to get any return on your investment. Let’s assume you are trying to sell a $19 eBook and you would have to pay something like ~ $3 per click for your keywords – making any money with this campaign would simply be impossible.

So, make sure your niche offers enough cheap keyword phrases to bid on. When determining the price for your keywords, don’t worry too much about the general keywords – they are almost always expensive and usually they don’t convert very well, because they are not targeted enough.

But careful, many of the people who are providing reviews are affiliates who want to make a sale – oftentimes these types of reviews are even more cheap hype than the sales letter. Probably, the majority of these reviews can’t be taken too seriously, but there will also be some “authentic” ones – listing the positive- as well as the negative points.

Ask for feedback on different forums. Also be aware, even if it’s a fantastic product, it might have some minor flaws and there will always be some people complaining. Just have a look what the majority of people are saying – the information provided should help you to decide whether it’s the right product for you.
