Why Is It So Important To Know
Your Web Site Goal?

Find Out How You Can Get Tons Of
Amazing Internet Marketing Products – For FREE!

Before you start designing your website, before you are writing even a single word for your site, you have to be clear about your web site goal.

So, what is the goal of your website or in other words...

What action do you want your visitors to take on your site?

You are selling digital goods, like e-books or downloadable audio files?
Then your goal might be that the visitor clicks the credit card symbol and
      buys your book.

You are selling a product that cost several thousand dollars? In this
case, your goal might be that the visitor gives you call in order to
      discuss your product benefits.

You are selling a service? So you might want the visitor to sign up to
your newsletter to give you the possibility to convince her about your
      outstanding experience and knowledge.

When you are clear about your web site goal – the action the visitor should take – then you can start working on your site. Choose every word, each graphic and every other item of your site in a way so that you convince your visitor to take your desired action, like buying your book, clicking on your affiliate link or whatever it is that you want to achieve.

Also, your web site goal has to be reasonable and measurable.

What does that mean?

Reasonable: Well, if you are selling real estate properties, it would not
be reasonable to expect your client to buy online after visiting your
      website.

Measurable: You have to know, if site changes (changing the headline
of your sales letter, giving a free bonuses with your main product…)
effect your principal web site goal in a positive or negative way.

This will allow you to increase the number of visitors who do exactly
what you want them to do : Buying your product, clicking on your
     affiliate link.

Whenever you make changes on your site, measure the results you are getting. Monitor your conversion rate (CR) in order to know if you are on the right track. Your CR is one of the most important success indicators for your site. You get the CR when you divide unit sales by the number of visitors.

Here is an example:

Lets say, your site goal is to sell your eBook, you are getting 1000 visitors a day and 100 of them are buying your eBook. Wow, so you are having a
100 sales / 1000 visitors = 0.1 = 10% CR. Congratulations, that’s not bad!

Be sure to design a clear pathway towards your web site goal. Make sure that your visitor does not get lost or distracted – she has to follow through, step by step until she arrives at the final most important action – your principal web site goal. Ok, let’s say the goal of your site is to sell your fantastic eBook:

Create a benefits-laden headline that contains your USP (Unique Selling Proposition), talk about the great benefits of your product to keep your visitor interested. Make your prospective an offer she can’t refuse (bundled with bonuses and a rock solid guarantee…).

Finally close the sale – remind your visitor that she has to click right here, right now on your “buy me” button.
